D&A’s first ever “Charity of the Year” relationship took place in 2006, when it formed a partnership with Moorfields Eye Hospital, pledging to raise £75,000 towards the new International Children’s Eye Centre that the Hospital was building. The Centre is a dedicated facility which aims to become the best clinical, research and training centre for paediatric ophthalmology in the world, bringing huge benefits to children in the UK and round the world who would otherwise suffer life-long vision impairments.
In the event, the programme has exceeded all expectations, raising over £200,000 towards the project. This sum, close to triple the original target, has been used towards the construction and kit-out of two children’s play and relaxation areas within the Centre, which, in recognition of the contribution, have been named after D&A.
