Edward has a learning disability. Edward was told that he had cataracts that have caused a serious loss of vision and he was warned that unless he had surgery to remove the cataracts he could go blind within months. Edward had stopped going out as he was scared and people appeared to be a blur when he looked at them. This was causing significant issues for he and his partner who he cares for.
The eye 2 eye team supported Edward to attend all appointments with information explained to him in a clear way. He was talked through each step of the procedure and his eye 2 eye worker was there to support him during his stay in the hospital whilst receiving treatment.
Edward said “after the operation I saw my partner more clearly which was great, and I have started going out again. My sight is important and if I go blind I can’t do anything.”
