D&A – VAO Improving Eyecare in Ethiopia - Part 2

Day 1 – Menelik II Hospital

On the morning of 18th February, the team visited the Menelik II Hospital and were introduced to the new Chief Executive Officer, Mr Tezera Kifle Desta. The management were very receptive to the ideas and suggestions which was very encouraging.

“I was so impressed by the dedication, professionalism and sheer resourcefulness of the Hosptial staff - they are working with such scant resources to make a difference to heathcare in the country”, Andy Cole, Head of Learning & Development for D&A.

This worthwhile project will fill a desperate need and we are proud to be involved in helping the local community in Addis Ababa. This help will continue after the workshop has been built as D&A Optometrists will make ‘Direct Service Visits’ to the workshop and really make a difference to the success of the project.
